What does a strategic plan typically include?

A strategic plan is fundamentally designed to outline an organization’s long-term direction and objectives. It serves as a roadmap for where the organization wants to go and sets specific goals to achieve that vision. This includes defining the mission, vision, and core values of the organization, as well as identifying critical success factors and the strategic initiatives necessary to meet those goals.

In contrast, focusing only on short-term projects or daily management tasks does not capture the essence of a strategic plan, which is centered on long-range planning. While cost estimates for IT purchases can be a part of operational plans or budget proposals, they don't represent the overarching goals and direction that a strategic plan aims to establish.
